Workshop Players Theater is proud to announce the addition of a Summer Workshop for Young Players to its theater offerings!
This program is intended to provide a unique opportunity for a maximum of 15 participants, ages 10-14, to develop and/or refine their performance skills. This small number of participants in Workshop Players’ intimate “black box” theater in Amherst ensures that each young player will receive individual attention in all aspects of the program’s offerings.
Each morning session will open with theater games and improvisation exercises followed by a stage focus/movement/vocal performance instruction and coaching period. The morning will culminate in rehearsal for a final workshop performance for families and friends to be presented on Friday, June 27 at 10:30.
Workshop leaders Sue Wurster and Kathy Whitmore come to this program with a wealth of theater experience. For forty years, Sue taught drama, theater, and speech in private schools in New York City and Concord, Massachusetts where she had the privilege of working with such professional artists as Paul Sills and Austin Pendleton as well as film expert Michael Moore. Kathy is well-known to theaters all over the Northern Ohio area where she is a highly respected technician and stage performer. She has served as stage manager for 30 Workshop Players productions and has, in addition, a long resume of acting credits herself including work at French Creek, Old Towne Hall, Elyria Summer Theatre, and Lorain Country Music Theater.
Both are eagerly looking forward to launching this program designed to promote the development of young actors’ performance, critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal communication skills. Join us!
